Our body is a living thing and our skin which allows us to appear better is included in it. Just as the organs and the systems of the body require proper nutrition to function, the skin needs several skin care applications to appear better. It is how the skin supported, kept healthy and acquire a luminous appearence.

What is the Skin Care Routine? How To Apply?

The skin is a living structure that surrounds the body, protects the body from exposed external factors and requires special care for every part. Although every part of the body has it's own process, it usually takes 22 days for skin to be regenerated. When it comes to skin care, the first thing that usually comes to mind is the facial area. Because it is the most visible part of the body which attracts people during social and professional life. Although each part needs a seperate and unique care, the facial area requires extra care.

There are different types of skin so skin care products should be used suitable for skin type and applied regularly. The skin should be cleaned, moisturized, and supported with serum twice a day, preferably in the morning and evening. Peeling, face mask and sun screen applications should not be forgotten as well. Skin care order is crucially important as wrong order of application can minimize the positive effects of each product. So what is the correct order for skin care?

In what order the skin care should be applied?

Before considering the correct order of applications, you should make sure to choose the suitable products for your skin. Otherwise, the applied products may not benefit your body and skin diseases may occur or if there is an existing problem, it may get worse. There are five different types of the skin suggested by dermatologists that are; combination, oily, sensitive, dry and normal. Each of these skin types require unique products and different skin care products, however; generally the steps of the skin care routine can be listed as follows;

Skin Cleaning

The skin is directly exposed to multiple factors during the day. And thus the skin gets stained and wears out. In order to gain maximum benefit from care products, first you need to start with cleaning the skin. Face cleaning can be applied once or twice a day, in the morning and evening, depending on your choice. However it is important that face cleaning shall be applied at least once a day. If you apply make-up during the day, using oil-based make-up cleaners or micellar water is what you need. After the face is make-up and dirt-free the first step of skin care is completed.

Tonic

Tonics can be neglected during the skin care from time to time. However, tonics can be used to boost the effects of skin care products after the skin is cleaned. If you have oily skin, tonics that contain glycolic acid may be beneficial for you. This way you can even the skin tone and tighten the pores on the skin at the same time.

Skin Care for Skin Diseases

Different skin types means different skin problems. For example the most basic problem of the people with dry skin is their need for moisturizers while the most basic problem of the people with oily skin is excessive sebum. Acne, wrinkles, blemishes and dark colored under-eye bags on the other hand can be experienced by anyone regardless of the skin type. For this reason you should choose care products according to your skin problems and apply local applications.

Serum

Just as every organ in our body, our skin needs nutrition to stay alive. Required nutrition is provided by the face serum. Serums contain the necessary vitamins and minerals for the skin, help the treatment of skin problems and allow the skin to have a brighter and vigorous appearence. If you suffer from wrinkles, blemishes, sagging and facial lines using serum can be beneficial for you. You can use hyaluronic acid for moisturizing your skin, Vitamin C for a more vigorous appearence and salicylic acid or glycolic acid for smoother look in terms of serum preference.

Eye Contour Care

Eye contour area is the most sensitive part of both the body and the face. For this reason, it requires a unique care. Face lines may form if it is neglected. Eye contour area should be moisturized during the care routine however, this care can not be applied with ordinary moisturizers. It is necessary to use products specifically made for eye contour area.

Moisturizer

Our skin, which is exposed to external factors during the day, loses moisture at a serious rate and, accordingly, dries out. Although there is less drying on oily skin, this does not change the fact that they need to be moisturized. In other words, no matter what skin type you have, you should never neglect to use a moisturizer. Especially if you have dry skin, you should consider using a moisturizer even more. Otherwise, rashes may occur on your skin, as well as wounds may form. At this point, like all other products, the moisturizers you prefer should also be suitable for your skin type.

Sun Screen

Sun screen is a preferred product especially in summer. However, the skin is exposed to harmful rays from the sun every day of the year, not only in summer. Therefore, it is important to use sunscreen regardless of the season. Otherwise, harmful rays from the sun can cause premature aging of the skin, the formation of wrinkles, blemishes. Therefore, you should not neglect to apply sunscreen when going out.

Peeling

Peeling removes the dead cells on the skin and enables it to breathe easily. And thus skin posses more vigorous appearence. For this reason, you can add the peeling application to your skin care routine.

Maske

Applying face masks make you feel better and it is also a form of mini-therapy. It is as if the daily stress is absorbed and removed from the body with face mask application. You can choose among the several different face masks which is suitable for you and apply them a few times a week.

Age-Specific Anti-Wrinkle Care

As organs get older, they start to dysfunction. The skin gets affected by this outcome as well. The signs of aging at different ages differ from each other; by middle age, the skin usually loses its flexibility and the face lines become more visible. At 40's face lines become even more visible. Regular care can reduce the intensity of face lines.
